F3081 Congenital Hearing Loss: Strategies for Diagnosis and Management

Monday, November 5
2:00 PM - 2:45 PM
Location: W304AB, Orange County Convention Center

Topic(s): Genetics/Epigenetics

Universal newborn hearing screening has been instituted in most industrialized countries because early intervention improves outcomes. In this session, pediatricians will become familiar with the most common causes of congenital hearing loss (syndromic and non-syndromic) and learn what diagnostic tests should be ordered based on the type of hearing loss. Making a specific diagnosis allows delivery of accurate information regarding prognosis and recurrence risk and directs the surveillance that may be needed for non-auditory complications.
