Pediatricians are in a unique position to identify risk factors for suicide and provide anticipatory guidance and interventions to youth, families/caregivers, and involved professionals. Faculty will discuss the increased risk of suicide, including among youth who have been in the child welfare or juvenile justice system; are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender; adopted; or homeless. Faculty will review risk factors and warning signs as well as tools and techniques to screen for suicide risk in primary care.
