Topic(s): Child Abuse/Neglect

Faculty will present cases outlining common findings associated with child physical abuse, including bruising, oral injuries, burns, intracranial injury, and fractures to aid the general pediatrician in developing appropriate suspicion regarding mechanisms of injury and consistency with the history. Accidental injuries and mimics will be used to help attendees distinguish between abuse and other diagnoses. Faculty also will provide information about child abuse reporting and management, including the potential role of referral to child abuse pediatricians.
