Ethical and Legal Challenges of Complex Decision-Making for Children in Foster Care
Recognition of the physical, behavioral, and developmental health impact of decisions made regarding children in foster care and their caregivers is needed. In addition, children in foster care may be excluded from research due to their status as a “protected” population, limiting the empirical evidence needed to guide court decisions and medical treatment. This program will help pediatricians understand the impact of legal decisions and how they can advocate in the court and child welfare system on behalf of these children.
