A panel will address issues that arise in extreme weather situations, including patients’ psychological recovery, responders’ mental and physical health, and communication hurdles. Panelists include a child psychologist who witnessed the effects of Hurricane Andrew, a pediatrician and Army reservist who oversaw the medical needs of 500 troops deployed in Hurricane Harvey, a Miami pediatrician who cared for hospital providers and medical shelter patients, and pediatricians in Puerto Rico who will share preparation, response, and recovery efforts during Hurricane Maria.
