Caring for Transgender Adolescents: Medical, Psychological, and Ethical/Legal Considerations
Pediatricians are in an ideal position to care for adolescents struggling with gender identity issues or sexual orientation concerns. Early recognition and prompt intervention often are essential to optimal outcomes. Attendees will learn from leading experts how to provide comprehensive care to transgender youth in the pediatric office setting, including medical management, psychological counseling, and ethical/legal considerations. Overlapping needs of gender nonconforming children and LGBT teens as a group will be woven into presentations as applicable.
