Didactic sessions will cover the pediatric focused assessment with sonography in trauma (FAST) approach to patients with abdominal pain and respiratory distress, as well as procedural guidance. Basic physics and knobology of ultrasound also will be reviewed. Ultrasound-guided procedures to be covered include venous cannulation, bladder catheterization, and lumbar puncture, as well as other life-saving procedures such as pericardiocentesis. Ultrasound fundamentals will be discussed as well as American College of Emergency Physicians core applications and pediatric-specific applications.
