Make the most of your smart phone in the field by collecting visual anecdotes. This workshop teaches participants practical skills to capture and create short compelling pieces of audio-visual media using their smartphones. Participants will learn the basic building blocks for documentary storytelling, be introduced to different styles of ethnographic filmmaking, technical video and audio how-to’s on the smartphone for direct applications in the field. Participants will produce a 3 minute film learning skills that can be adapted to their unique field sites contexts, methodologies, and extended into longer film projects. This workshop is hosted by Ethnocine, a feminist, women of color centered, ethnographic filmmaking collective.
