What do anthropologists do in technology companies? This workshop will orient participants toward user experience and design research, a rapidly growing career path. We will explore questions such as: what is User Experience (UX) research? how does UX research fit into the product development process in tech? Is this role a good fit for your skill set and as a future career?
In the first half of this workshop, participants will learn about UX research and its role in product development within tech companies. Using real world examples, participants will work together to frame research questions, and pair methods to questions and design/document a product research plan. In the second half of this workshop, participants will re-frame their resumes to discover experience and skills they can leverage in UX research. This exercise will help enable participants to clearly communicate with tech recruiters and UX research hiring managers.
By the end of this hands-on workshop, you will understand:
-What is UX and UX research
-UX research methods in relation to the product development process
-How to create a research plan
-Practical ways to communicate your skills to the tech professionals
