This session will provide the opportunity to have an interactive discussion with the lead for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Children’s Preparedness Unit. Pediatricians and others who care for children often face overwhelming challenges during infectious disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. After providing an update on lessons learned during recent infectious disease outbreaks such as Zika, faculty will highlight steps that pediatricians can take to advocate for children and improve hospital and office practice preparedness during these situations. A question-and-answer period will provide strategies and resources that will lead to improved preparation and treatment of children in a public health emergency.
