Clinical encounters are more stressful than ever with time constraints, multiple complaints, electronic health record (EHR) restraints, and the inevitable detours to the Internet. With all of that, how can you efficiently meld the art of communication with the science of medicine? Doctor-patient interactions are never scripted, even with EHRs. So by definition, each one is improvised. In this session, enjoy learning a new communication paradigm: “medical improvisation,” stressing active observation, listening, and quick thinking. Guaranteed learning with fun group participation exercises will provide a valuable new perspective and embed this skill set into your clinical toolbox.
