This session will review the prevalence, disparities, and consequences of oral health disease in children and provide strategies to improve oral health outcomes. Attendees will better understand the elements of the AAP Bright Futures Oral Health Risk Assessment tool and how to use it as a guide in pediatric practice to reduce patients’ risk for oral health disease. The session will include a hands-on component in which the knee-to-knee examination and fluoride varnish application will be taught. It will provide a guide to implementing successful oral health programs within pediatric practices, including billing, coding, equipment needs, and streamlining service delivery as well as conceptual components such as promoting administrative and provider engagement in oral health promotion activities.
