This session will provide an update on the management of type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, with discussion of what has been learned from the Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) study and its failure. It will highlight the limitations of intervention studies in adolescents and will include a discussion on the management of “diabetes emergencies” in children with type 2 diabetes and how to deal with special situations.
