Thank you to the 75 ASHA volunteers who joined ASHA Advocacy staff in Washington, D.C., for ASHA’s 2024 Capitol Hill Day! These advocates attended 135 meetings with federal legislators and their staff members throughout the day on May 8. The conversations they had and stories they were able to share helped representatives understand the importance of the work audiologists and SLPs do and how legislation and regulations can positively or negatively impact you and the people you serve. We saw legislators’ eyes widening, their staff members taking copious notes, questions being asked, and light bulbs going off in their minds as ASHA members advocated for better coverage and reimbursement rates; improved IDEA funding; expanding opportunities for audiologists, SLPs, and assistants; improving patient access to audiology and speech-language pathology services; and so much more. Advocacy and change take time and many voices. We need your help to keep up this momentum! There are several ways you can get involved right now: https://at.asha.org/iW
