  • We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Vijay Patel as the Director of Pediatric Complex Sinus and Skull Base Surgery Program here at #RadyChildrens & assistant professor of Otolaryngology at UC San Diego School of Medicine! 👏 Dr. Patel is set to spearhead a multidisciplinary team of physicians committed to providing comprehensive care for pediatric patients with complex sinonasal & skull base lesions. “With this new program, we’re providing children with sinus and skull base conditions with new, minimally invasive options and excellent, long-term outcomes. • We are celebrating #PatientExperienceWeek & want to highlight two outstanding team members who exemplify the importance of what our patients & families experience during their time in the outpatient specialty clinics. See what Sarah & Angel said when asked what they enjoyed most about their jobs. ⬇️ "The best part of my job is working alongside a very skilled and knowledgeable group of people. All of the staff and providers work tirelessly to support the patients and to provide the best patient care possible. It is encouraging and rewarding to work with such an engaged group of individuals. I believe this dedication and commitment really allows for a great patient experience." -Sarah "The best part about my job is that I get to build relationships with patients and families that we see often, but also just getting to interact with the kids and help make their experience of coming to the doctors less intimidating for them." - Angel

  • Meet Tara 👋, a former #RadyChildrens oncology patient turned volunteer. Tara was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2014, right before starting 4th grade. During treatment at Rady Children's, Tara also benefitted from the care of child life specialists & playroom volunteers, who made her time in the hospital as enjoyable as possible. 🫧 Tara says, "I am incredibly grateful for the care I received at Rady Children’s & volunteering seemed like a natural way to say 'thanks.'" Now volunteering in the hematology/oncology floor playroom, she hopes to brighten patients' days & make their inpatient stays more tolerable. Inspired by the compassionate care she received from nurses at Rady Children's, Tara is pursuing a major in Applied Health Science & works as a Certified Nursing Assistant in addition to her volunteer work. 💙 This #VolunteerMonth & beyond, we're proud to spotlight Rady Children's volunteers, who help us provide the highest possible quality of service to our patients, their families & our staff. 🫶
